National Goof Off Day is on March 22 and provides the perfect reason to have a little classroom fun. Preschoolers are naturally silly, so they'll adore a day to spend goofing off and being creative with their classroom family.
Here are 10 easy and inspirational ideas for your preschool class to get a little goofy and have a lot of fun:
Opposite outfit day: Invite kids to wear their goofiest styles by hosting an opposite outfit day. Kids and teachers can wear their shirts, sweaters and jackets backwards!
Wacky hair day: Let students' personalities shine as they show up in their wackiest 'dos. Ponytails, big spikes, mohawks, bows, colors and more — anything goes on wacky hair day.
Inside beach day: Summer is still a ways out but have a little fun by having an inside beach day where kids can wear their swimsuits and coverups and sit on beach towels. Blow up beach balls and eat snacks on the towels while listening to tropical music.
Meal mix-up: If you serve food at your preschool, consider switching things up and having breakfast food for lunch! Kids will adore the goofy switch and who doesn't want cereal or pancakes for lunch, anyway?
Crazy food combos: What snack foods would be goofy but potentially delicious combinations? Serve pretzels with yogurt for dipping. Or, what about potato chips dipped in ketchup? Carrots in peanut butter? The possibilities are endless.
Animal dramatic play: Students love to play pretend and it's a great way to exercise their imaginations. Let them choose their favorite animal to be for the day, allowing them to dress up as they choose. Then watch as your zoo of a classroom comically interacts together.
Silly dance party: Play some favorite preschool songs and gather everyone in a big circle. Each student gets to take a turn in the middle leading the group with their goofiest dance moves and everyone can then try to mimic those actions.
Alphabet mash-up: Read the classic book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom during storytime and then mix up alphabet letters in a bag or bucket. Oh no, the alphabet is out of order! Then work as a class to sort the silly mess out.
Ice cube dilemma: Freeze ice cubes with a small plastic treasure inside for each student in class. This is perfect for a lesson about how liquids can become solids. Then students can try their best to melt the ice to get the treasure inside using their hands to create warmth.
Fizzy fun: Sprinkle baking soda on cookie trays and drop various colors of food coloring throughout. Then set a tray on each classroom table along with cups of white vinegar and medicine droppers. Let students take turns dropping the vinegar on each color and watch the wacky reaction.
