Mother's Day Craft Ideas Mom will Adore

Preschoolers love their moms and Mother’s Day is the perfect time to show Mom a little affection. Plan some fun activities in the classroom talking about mothers and all they do, including some of these special crafts that kids can gift on Mother's Day. Each of these activities can use the free Color Portrait Stickers provided to schools when they use Lifetouch Preschool Portraits.

Potted seed: Kids love to get a little dirty and planting seeds is a fun learning activity. Set up planting stations and use small pots or Styrofoam cups and plant flower seeds in dirt. Then return to the classroom and use large wooden craft sticks to write "grow with me" and place a Color Portrait Sticker at the top. Insert into the dirt to create a meaningful gift for Mom. What's more, parent and child can grow this flower at home, so it's a great activity that encourages quality bonding time — and that's what Mom likes best.

Handprint butterflies: This adorable card is sure to make her heart flutter! The Best Ideas for Kids blog offers simple instructions for making this cute craft that uses the outline of a child's hand to create beautiful butterfly wings. Add pom poms, stickers and even a Arts and Crafts Sticker for the butterfly's face and each child will have a custom gift for Mom that is sure to be hung proudly on the fridge.

Beautiful paper blooms: Dig through your craft supplies and use what you have on hand — crayons, paint, stickers, etc. — to create flowers on paper plates for Mom. If you want to make it a sensory experience, opt for finger paint! When dry, place a Color Portrait Sticker of the student in the center for a gift that embraces the essence of spring.

Bookmarks: When moms get a quiet moment, they often crack open a book and get lost in a favorite story. Seeing Mom read also sets a great example for kids who are learning the love of the written word! For Mother's Day, have kids create a crafty bookmark for a gift they'll both enjoy. Use thick paper or colorful foam sheets to cut out bookmarks for every child. Place a Color Portrait Sticker at the top and let kids decorate the lower portion using markers and stickers.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there and thank you for all you do!
